Privacy Policy

Pirqaleno is a static site of written guides to casual puzzle games. It has no accounts, no forms, no comments and no shop, which means the amount of personal information it involves is very small. This page describes what little there is, in the order it comes up.

The site is run from Manitoba. Manitoba has no general private-sector privacy statute in force, so the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies here, alongside Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

1. Who is accountable

PIPEDA requires a named individual accountable for personal information. That individual is James Wilson, who is also the person who writes the site and answers the mail.

2. What information exists at all

Requests recorded by the server

Serving a page writes a line in the host’s log: the IP address that asked, the browser user-agent string, the file requested, the time and the response code. That is how web servers work rather than a choice made here. The lines are consulted when the site breaks or when automated traffic gets heavy, and they are never combined with anything else or used to profile a visitor.

Whatever arrives by email

Messages sent to the address above contain what the sender put in them — commonly a name, a return address, and a question about a page. That information reaches us because you decided to write, not because a page asked.

Stated plainly: this domain has no form on it. No contact form, no sign-up field, no comment box, no survey, no upload. Nothing on these pages sends information about you anywhere.

An order for the workbook

One paid item is offered here, a PDF ordered by email. An order carries nothing beyond an ordinary message: the address it came from, any name signed to it, and afterwards the reference a bank attaches to an Interac e-Transfer. No card number, expiry date or security code is ever seen by this site or by its owner — a transfer runs between your bank and his, and no payment page exists here for one to be typed into.

3. Why any of it is used

  • Keeping the site working and secure: finding errors, broken links and abusive traffic.
  • Answering email: reading a message, replying to it, and keeping the thread while the conversation is live.
  • Filling an order: sending transfer details, confirming the payment arrived, and delivering the file to the address that ordered it.
  • Meeting a legal obligation: responding to a lawful demand from a Canadian authority, if one arrives.

None of it is sold, rented, traded or handed to advertisers or data brokers. On the CASL side, this site sends no commercial electronic messages whatsoever: there is no list, no promotional mail, no automated sequence. The only email you will receive from this address is a reply to your own.

4. Cookies and the absence of tracking

One first-party cookie holds your answer to the cookie banner, and nothing else. No analytics platform, no tag manager, no advertising pixel, no remarketing tag, no third-party script exists anywhere on this domain — every file loads from pirqaleno.com. 5. When you leave

Pages here discuss applications distributed by other companies, principally through the Google Play Store. Those platforms operate under their own privacy policies and are outside our control. Once a link takes you off this domain, this policy no longer applies. Read the terms at the other end before installing software or supplying personal details.

6. Protection, location, retention

Pages are served over HTTPS, and access to the hosting account is limited to the individual named above with a unique credential. Hosting and email may be operated outside Manitoba and outside Canada, in which case the provider is contractually bound to comparable protections; the information involved is confined to logs and correspondence.

Logs are rotated out by the host within weeks. Email threads are kept up to twenty-four months so a later question makes sense in context, then deleted. Earlier deletion is available on request and is carried out.

Order correspondence keeps the same twenty-four month window, held a little more deliberately so a buyer who loses the file months later can ask again and be recognised. It goes sooner on request.

7. What you may ask for

Under PIPEDA you may ask whether personal information about you is held here and receive a copy of it, ask for a correction where something is inaccurate or incomplete, withdraw consent where processing rests on it, and ask for your correspondence to be deleted.

Send the request to [email protected], saying which of those you want. A first reply usually arrives within a couple of business days, and the request itself is completed within thirty days, which is the response window PIPEDA sets.

If the outcome does not satisfy you, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada accepts complaints about federally regulated handling of personal information, and does not require you to come back here first. For provincial public-sector matters, the Manitoba Ombudsman is the relevant office.

8. Changes to this page

If the site changes in a way that affects anything above, this text is rewritten and the date at the top moves with it. Questions go to [email protected].
